From the Gospel of St. Thomas

16 Jesus said, "Perhaps people think that I have come to casy peace upon the world. They do not know that I have come to cast conflicts upon the earth: fire, sword, war.

Now, finally, something of truth in these Christian holy texts.

Thomas Just in case someone actually wanted to read the whole sayings gospel (quite short). Also, was there a point to your post or were you just mouth breathing?

You left out the remainder of the verse.

16. Jesus said, "Perhaps people think that I have come to cast peace upon the world. They do not know that I have come to cast conflicts upon the earth: fire, sword, war.

For there will be five in a house: there'll be three against two and two against three, father against son and son against father, and they will stand alone."
The allusion is not to literal war but to the conflicts that the seekers of ghosis will see because to the orthodoxy they will be considered madmen.

If you're going to pull things out of Gnostic texts all willy-nilly it would be wise to spend some time acquainting yourself with the sect.

The Gospel of St. Thomas is not canonical. You won't find it in a regular Bible. So what is your point???
Not only is it non-canonical, it's heretical. 🙂

Though, to be fair, Gnosticism was a widespread and very strong branch of Christianity whose leaders held high positions in the early church until the Council of Nicaea (AD 325) declared Gnosticism to be heretical.

If you really want to mess with your head, read the whole Nag Hammadi library. It's the number one reason i'll end up in hell.

If you take things out of context, you can justify just about anything and twist the Bible to say whatever you want it to say.
