Im sorry i didnt want to create multiple threads
So I broke my man units lap top and I promised to buy him a new computer.
here's the list that he spent my money on and now he's wondering why it wont work. it gives him this error code 0x8007045d

-Corsair obsidian 800d
-Corsair CX 600 power
-Intel DZ68DB mobo
-Intel i5-2500k processor
-Samsung 22x DVDRW SATA optical
-Seagate 1TB 7200rpm SATA 6GB/s
-Corsair XMS3 DDR3 single 4GB
-eVga e-GEForce GT430 1GB
-Windows 7 home premium 64-bit

I watched him set it up and as I am horrible with tech specs I am great with instructions and he did everything right

the salesman talked him into a quick mount for motherboard/ cpu. when I read the MOBO instructions and warnings it says to put the ram into DIMM1 but the store put it into DIMM3.

A) What the fudge is wrong? is it the hardware (faulty or non compatible) or the the software, and how do I*** fix this

B) who do I need to call a tool, the salesman, the man unit or myself for getting talked into this?

First of all - What is a " Man Unit "?

What does the rest of the error message say and what do you mean " It won't work ". What are you doing when this error pops up?

Details man.

Just from the error code it looks like an Input Output device error. Maybe a SATA Driver...?

installed windows 7, but it was recomended that after that to install mobo drivers. Half way into driver install the computer crashed with BSOD and the silly ah heck shut rebooted before I could see the reason for it. Now wont start W7 up because its not there any more. It gives that error if I try to delete OS to reinstall OS because the drive is locked and wont let me do a check disk fix due to it being locked NTFS

Since your windows installation in fubar'd can you boot off the windows cd, delete the partition, and start from scratch. Just make sure in the bios that the boot order is setup properly, ie cd...harddrive. some motherboards will allow you to change the boot order by tapping f10 or f12 on bootup.

Man unit heh, I have one of those but its mine 😎

I would also do this. Do not install the drivers blindly. After the Windows install look at the device manager and see if any devices were not installed correctly. If so install only those drivers.

Unrelated to your error, but this jumped out at me. If you are bothering to spend $$ on a 2500K and Corsair Obsidian parts, don't handicap the performance by using 1 stick of RAM. For future reference, buy them in pairs. Your 1 stick will not run at full bandwidth.

Good luck with the rest. If you broke his laptop, better not call him the tool. Hehe. 😉

Yea I kinda wasn't getting an option on the where my money was going on this even after I pointed out that two kinda made more sense... I did not manage to get windows on it but I have told him to suck it up and learn ubuntu for now

0x8007045d is an IO error. Change the ports your DVD and HD are connected to. Go into the BIOS and restore to default settings.

Download gParted and burn it to a live cd. Boot up gparted from the live cd. Select your harddrive, delete the partion, create new partition of NTFS.

Boot Windows 7 disk. Reinstall it

Go into device manager and make sure you have no yellow exclaimation points next to anything. Stress test the system.
