equipment: PIONEER SD-533HD5 HDTV PROJECTION MONITOR (with RGB DB15 input), RADEON ALL-IN-WONDER 8500DV (with DVI-I out)

I have ordered the AIW 8500DV in preparation to merge computer and home theater, mostly DVD playback and TIVO. ATI makes a dongle that transcodes the DVI-I to component, but I'm wondering if a better signal could be made with a DVI-I (or DVI-A) to RGB/VGA. My TV manual notes " the RGB input jack is designed for use in connecting a digital tuner (HDTV) with RGB signal output, and it should accordingly never be used for connecting to a personal computer or other device." Is this just a warning that the computer may not be able to fit the picture correctly to the TV screen, or is there another reason not to use this connection? If the DVI to VGA cable were used, could the AIW be set up to display images properly to my widecreen (would the Desktop be shown in 4:3, and an anamorphic widescreen DVD in 16:9)? ...would Catalyst be needed? ...would PC games display on the TV (the RGB input may only accept 1080i format)?

I would appreciate any guidance for this PC newbie.

a thought about the ATI HD dongle:
a few reviews have mentioned that the dongle overscans, making Desktop operation difficult and that ATI needs to come up with a fix. Most TVs (CRT and rear projection) overscan coming out of the factory. So is it the dongle that causes overscan or is it the TV? I'm getting my TV calibrated soon and hope to do a 'before and after.'
