I know novice is the same as beginner, one that begins something; especially: an inexperienced person. And the definition of newbie is: beginner, novice; especially: a newcomer to cyberspace. So how did novice or newbie progress to the word noob or does it mean something different that those two words?

Maybe its a cross between newbie and boob? Or maybe its jus short for newbie...kinda like how people say sup instead of whats up? I don't use the word so I wouldnt know.

Actually I'd consider noob a more negative word than newbie is. They generally mean the same though :)

"look at that dumb noob!"
"Cut him some slack, he's a newbie"

Newbies are people who are just new at something. Noobs are stupid people who are either new at something but don't listen to advice or pretend they are new cus they are so horrible and wont listen to advice.
