I've posted a forum yesterday regarding 3 rigs (2 intels & 1 amd)
w/c is posted here...

http://forums.anandtech.com/me...=2123568&enterthread=y

mostly agreed that when not in peak load of cpu's like opening many tabs of mozilla while opening documents, playing music and etc the AMD X2 is noticeably snappier or has faster responsiveness than Core 2 but when using at full peak load like video encoding and media encoding then Core 2 finishes 1st....

I've only posted that yesterday but we've bought those rigs 3 months ago....
My next observation is that AMD X2 do offers low power consumption than Core 2..
My friends live in neighboring apartment, mine is door 23, my friends are in door 24 & 25...
We have separate electric bills and mostly we have the same appliances used and we really have roughly the same electric bill every month...

While i was using the Core 2 E4300, my bill was 10% more than my friend w/c was using AMD X2...the next months we change rig, I used the AMD X2 and my friend w/c is using now the Core 2 has increase his bill...we never really leave the apartment since we tested the systems, i mean we only leave if we bought some food or pay bills or go jogging and play ball...but mostly we stayed at the our apartment playing pc games every day and both rigs are on 24/7....if i turned off my rig so that it can rest for a day, i'd call my friend so that he can turned his rig off also so that we have the same usage...

so for day 2 day usage and not OC'ing becoz OC can increase power consumption...AMD X2 is still a energy saver especially for a singles who paid they're own rent and electric bill and food....

that would probably account for why people say the x2 seems snappier for everyday use then. I've read numerous discussions about that both here and at other boards by people who own both builds claiming it to be true.

You certainly can't discount AMD's on-die memory controller and hypertransport, or even the mostly unrecognized benefits of native core. I found myself going back to my old A64 X2, simply because my everyday use with C2D became increasingly frustrating. I had just gotten too used to the responsiveness of the AMD system.

BTW, you should buy a P3 Kill A Watt meter and put your theory about energy usage to the test.

My son just bought a cheap dell with a x2 3800 and he was surprized that my internet PC/P4C@ 3.2 ghz seemed so much smoother than the AMD PC. I haven't tried it yet . I doubt I will feel any differances. I mean this old PC responds instantly. I can't see any differances between my c2d@ 3.85ghz.and the P4C . That is until you give it some real work to do . Than its a no show for the P4C.
