im using outlook 2007 setup with two pop3 accounts (no exchange server)

i enabled the from field, but it is blank. if i click the "from" button it opens my address book to select an email (which is also blank)

ive used outlook since ... well whenever it first came out. i always remember the From field being a pull-down menu auto-populated with all the email accounts you have defined in that installation. what the hell is this?

I have had that happen too, where it was looking in the wrong contacts/personal address book. just have to figure out which one is the right one and set it as the default

The "from field" is basically if you want to use it as a send-as ..

IE: the from is not from your normal email address

If you don't fill in FROM... it automatically sends from your address.

yes, thanks... i want to use it as a send-as

except that i have two or three "normal" email addresses, all defined in outlook. and how am i supposed to know which it is sending from if it doesn't display anything? again, everytime i've used it it is auto-populated with the addresses i have defined in outlook...

It will send from the default mail address unless you change it. When you create a new mail you will see an Account button just under the Send button. Clicking that will allow you to change what account the email is sent from.
