ubisoft, so ATOT will never even give it a chance.

Ubisoft PC game means it requires online authentication to play.

It's kind of like steam, except that you can't play at all while offline, and their servers are down about 50% of the time.

Ubisoft has really let me down with most of their recent PC games. They tend to be derrivative, sloppy console ports stuffed with drm.

Populous is one of my top 5 games of all time. So is Black and White (not B&W2, that sucked ass). I don't know why so many people gave it a hard time... the creature AI was unreal, the graphics and zooming changed games for me, and the premise was SO original and fun.

Anyways, I hope programing for consoles doesn't limit this idea to the point where its dumb. I also hope the inevitable porting process doesnt ruin its control scheme. Looks really promising though!

The game sounds a lot like Sim Earth. Could be interesting but it's Ubisoft. They'll find some way to screw it up.

wow, really? who would have guessed? i know what their new drm is like, that was my entire point...

and the last part is absolutely false. I have Splinter Cell Conviction and Settlers. I have never once not been able to play either game.

I always wondered who played those crappy games hahaha

If it was cheap I would get it when released to play around with for a bit, but as it's not going to be. :(
Baring stupid drm junk anyways.

Pre-ordered already, also makes me want to go back and try his previous game. The demo was cool but only lasted about 90 seconds lol.

Pre ordered. Even if it ends up sucking, I'll feel like my $15 has been well spent supporting devs trying to make something different.

does this even use the drm that Settlers and Splinter Cell shipped with? I thought they stopped adding that to games?

From the UBIsoft forums

"We are aware of some confusion over the inclusion of DRM in the release of From Dust on PC.

To prevent any on-going confusion we would like to clarify From Dust PC will release with DRM requiring a one-time only online activation. After which you will be able to play the game offline.

We hope this clears any outstanding confusion on the matter"

I've seen several videos of this, and I just don't see the game here. The tech looks cool... but I've watched quite a bit of gameplay vids and it was nothing more than drawing lines with stuff to get little villagers to a certain point. Water's in the way... well you can steal dirt from somewhere and build a bridge, or take lava and build a bridge, or even take part of the water away Moses style to have some dry land. Regardless of how you do it I just don't see how you'd get much gameplay or enjoyment out of it.

It's a puzzle game. The demo was interesting enough that I picked it up on the Xbox, it's cool so far.
