I recently read a review on the i7-4820k and the i7-4930k. Based on what I read, the 4770k is still a better choice for gaming in my opinion that the 4820k and the 4930k, especially for single GPU users. I feel that my 3930k is falling behind in gaming performance and the i7-4771 which just was released or a 4770k would seem like an upgrade for me as far as gaming is concerened. I'm leaning towards the 4771 because of TSX and I don't keep my system overclocked.

I think you could sell your X79 board and 3930K and have money to spare after getting into an LGA1150 system. So if you have the time, it will probably be worth it, since you'll likely get money back. Used 3930Ks are selling for ~$450 all day long on ebay, it's entirely reasonable to expect at least $500 from the sale of the mobo and CPU.

But there isn't a whole lot in it either way. The difference in performance to a Haswell is pretty minimal and for the most part. While I agree that a Haswell would be faster in the games they tested (its not universally true, there are games that use 6 cores and they do a lot better on a 3930k than a 4770 does) its also not much faster because IB and Haswell didn't actually improve performance very much anyway. I don't think its a worthwhile upgrade, I personally don't change until there is at least 50% more performance on offer.

You're really not falling behind in gaming performance by any noticeable amount. If you're that worried about it, just overclock your CPU. The gain from overclocking will be far greater than any gain from switching to the 4771.
