While most NFL players use the offseason for rest, relaxation and maybe some traveling, St. Louis Rams running back Terrance Ganaway has decided to spend his time away from the gridiron in a most unusual way — earning $7.50 an hour making sandwiches at Jimmy John's Gourmet Sandwiches in Waco, Texas.
Ganaway jokingly tweeted that he was bored with his offseason and was looking for something to fill all those empty hours until Rams OTAs and training camp commence. Memo to Terrance: be careful what you put out there on Twitter. You never know who's reading it.

Nice to see people that are "better off" doing things like this.

I thought this was going to be a said thread about NFLers being broke. I know a few. Also, watch the ESPN 30 for 30 called 'Broke' very interesting.

He said this is his first job. Its great that he wants to work and save money. He made 300K+ last year playing football. $7.50/hr is nothing, but the experience is worth it. People seem to get rich and think that working is beneath them, nice to see someone appreciate what most non-rich people are doing to earn a living...working.

A great work ethic definitely pushes him past other prospective candidates at the full-time job. Good for him.

I'm very confused with the comments in this thread.

I guess that hoping I get so rich one day that I don't have to work at a sandwich shop is just "wrong" thinking. smh.

Maybe he's going to open a franchise one day and just wants to get a head start on learning the ins and outs of the business.

I bet he ends up better off financially than most people after getting out of the league. Maybe not richer on paper but better off.

Solomon Wilcots (DB Bengals, Vikings, Steelers (87-92) worked in the off season in the claims dept. at an insurance co. I was working for in 90. Good dude the few times I talked to him.

I guess claims wasn't his thing. He is a broadcaster on CBS and NFL Network currently.

He wants to see what life is for mere mortals since he may turn into one after the medical treatment concussion money runs out.
