My water bills have been outrageous, for the past couple of months.

I had stayed home the other week, because I wasn't feeling well. I was
downstairs on the couch, when I kept hearing water run. I went upstairs,
and well, if you watch the video, you'll find out the problem.

First I'd  then I'd contemplate killing it.

now if you can teach it to USE the toilet and flush after, that would be cool.

what the fuck. How the hell does the cat figure out how to do that? Almost as much of a mystery as when my dog figured out how to open the door screen door, and ring the doorbell.

Given how cheap water is, I think that cat would have to be flushing that thing continuously in order to have a water bill that was "outrageous."
Back home, we had a water bill that was little higher than usual - we were reseeding about a third of the lawn after we had a drainage trench put in around half of the house, and had to keep watering it.

Amusing (but old) video. My cats would never do that - they ran away every time they'd happen to be near a flushing toilet.

All they have to do is see it just one time to learn about it. Some are brighter than others. One of my cats didn't know how to turn a doorknob, so she'd just reach up and tap at the side of it if she wanted a door opened. Same with the refrigerator handle, just a gentle tapping on the side of it, and then sit down and look at it like it was supposed to open then.

Leaking flapper valves are the number one reason for a marked increase in a water bill. I've heard more than one horror story. Given the IQ of a cat and the cat is getting full flushes not just the trickle of a leak, I could see a quarterly bill going from $100 to $300.

My cat would open doors just to bother our other cat (they HATED each other), but neither of them figured out how to do that. That's amazing.
