They probably just took ketchup chips and added jalapeno seasoning.

In the UK, you can get Prawn Cocktail and Worcester sauce Lays (Walkers). For FIFA 2010, they apparently had Haggis flavoured chips, and something mysteriously called "Builder's Breakfast". Which I'm guessing is supposed to taste like egg, bacon, and beans. Other weird UK flavours include lamb with mint sauce, Branston Pickle, Marmite, vanilla, and baked bean.

I've seen the prawn cocktail for sale at our local European deli. I don't like shrimp though so I'd assume they'd be disgusting.

These flavors were brought to you by the general population. FL just took the suggestions and narrowed it down to four bags of shit.

is it real wasabi or just horseradish.

Neither is my guess. Probably artificial flavor, but perhaps it includes a trivial amount of wasabi in the blend to keep straight with the law. Like just about anything that says "honey flavor". It's one of the last ingredients on the label, and provides little to no flavor.

Yeah there ain't no wasabi in there, that's for sure. Something that comes in a bottle from International Flavors and Fragrances.

even the wasabi paste you can pick up at the grocery store is mostly horseradish.

They taste like wasabi served in most restaurants (horseradish), not so much like ginger (I don't like ginger so much).

They got a bit of a bite and some tang to them.

Again I am not a big chip eater, but we had these with some subs last night and it was a good side to my Subway Club (Publix ran out of hoagie rolls :()

Just go to a local asian market esp for things like sushi rice. My Publix charges $7 for like a pound of sushi rice, the local asian market it was $20ish for 25 pounds. It's just as good as regular rice in things IMHO that I make.

Sadly outside Japan it's VERY hard to find real wasabi (many will fight this argument saying for the price they paid for the horseradish they bought).

only the cappuccino sounds out of place

Agreed. I am 100% in for all of the others. Now that I live in a real city I may actually be able to find them too.

With all the weird / not the norm flavors that are coming out in different product lines of things 3 of them seem to be the new norm. LOL The Cappuccino flavor is kind of out of left field for me. Maybe Folgers should get into the snack food market. They could have regular and decaff chips. ;)

Does Lays abandon these new crowd-sourced flavors eventually? Haven't seen any Cheesy Garlic Bread, or Chicken Waffle lately.

I picked up the Wasabi Ginger chips today. Lots of tang, and intense flavor. I could detect the ginger. Don't know what wasabi is though. Definitely a unique spice-y taste. I would buy again.

Next time - Mango Salsa.

I saw the Garlic Bread ones at my supermarket yesterday. I did not see the saracha or chicken and waffle ones.

I wish they would sell these new flavors in the smaller 99 cent bags. If they do I never seem to find them. Hate spending 2.50-4.00 on a bag of chips that I may not like.

I am confused about the Bacon, Mac & Cheese. Do they add a starchy flavor in addition to the potato (the mac portion), or is simply just bacon and cheese?

Wasabi is apparently quite difficult to grow, especially outside of Japan. Which is why it's so expensive. It's only available here in high end Japanese restaurants. Though apparently it's similar enough to horseradish, just a bit hotter.

meanwhile in Asia, saw these bad boys yesterday:

Is that a scallop? Sorry, I don't understand Moon. :(

I honestly wish they stopped a long time ago--plain Lays is where it's at...or salt and vinegar. I just like the potato taste too much. I don't see them as a delivery system for freeze-dried powder flavorings. :\
