ok so first off here is my build

CPU: Intel Core i5-750 Lynnfield 2.66GHz
Mobo:ASUS P7P55D
Memory:G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
Video Card:XFX HD-585A-ZNBC Radeon HD 5850 (Cypress Pro) 1GB BE
PSU:CORSAIR CMPSU-650TX 650W
Case:Antec 900
HD Western Digital Caviar Black WD6401AALS 640GB

I want to be able to run crossfire with my gpu card. From the reading I have done. I need to buy another 5850 graphics card?.. Seems like they are hard to find...

would it be better to just upgrade my current card or try and find another 5850 so that I can crossfire? I want to be able to run BF3 and other high demanding games with 60Fps+ as of now I am getting around 40 with BF3 Beta

let me know what you guys think! Thanks

I'd say if you cant find another 5850, then probably wait until the 7000 series comes out.
I personally just picked up two 6950 2gb for xfire, and it is a pretty sweet setup. Im just hoping i dont regret waiting for the 7000 series.

That said, did you check ebay? And yes, you need another 5850 for xfire, dont go and get something that looks "similar".

You don't have to run 2 5850's,any 5800 series card will work.I'm using windows 8 and trixx doesn't work so i'm limited to no voltage control on the 5850 and ccc limits on the 5830

what res are you playing at? I wouldn't suggest putting more money into a 5 series set up unless you can find the card for cheap and just use it as a stop gap.

Personally, I would sell the 5850 before they drop even more in price and get a 6 series card or hold off until the 7 series comes out (1st quarter of 2012, i think). If you are ok playing bf3 at 40 fps for 3 to 4 months before the new setup I would suggest waiting on the 7 series.
