looks like the 2900xt is a better buy when it comes to Lost Planet, over the 8800gts 640mb.

Thought this was a repost for a moment, but it was actually linked in the LR thread, it deserves its own thread. :)

Agreed, for DX9, but they didn't test it in DX10, driver issues evidently, as pointed out in the Legit Reviews thread.

Of course, the bulk of our performance testing (including the Radeon HD 2900 XT scores) was conducted under the game?s DX9 code path

I thought the whole point of this demo was to test the shiny new DX10 cards.

Yes, they should have used DX10 as well. At least to point out the existing problems. The review seems biased. Also, FW 158.42(43) would have offered a performance boost over 158.22.

Yep that review was a total waste of time, except that it pointed out that Lost Planet runs better under dx9. This of course makes you wonder why anyone would want to use it as a dx10 benchmark.

Must be an hiv sponsored benchmark - as who else thinks people are that dumb?

Ronnn now you are doing dish out one of the best GPU website. Err your nothing but a blind fanboy. Next you will be telling me hardocp is non biased. If you read 2900XT firingsquad review they didn't recommend 2900XT at this point.

Nope, not at all a comment on the hd 2900xt. Mainly a comment on Lost Planet as a DX10 game (benchmark) and the fact that they didn't even bench both cards in dx10. I suspect that the amd offering will have nice legs into dx10 - if vista and dx10 get off the ground.

Think I better change my sig soon. :D

I have a feeling just about every DX10 game we see for a year or more will just be a patched DX9 game. I'm surprised there is not a patch for Far Cry yet.

Ronn is right why even use that demo if you are not going to bench the DX10 path???

Why not just benchmark pong.

I more meant, why use it as a dx10 bench, when it runs better in dx9. dx10 obviously is broken in that game. Pong would be a good choice though, especially if promoted by the pr of one of these crooked companies.
