Hi. At my school, to log into msn we have to use a teachers password, as it is blocked for all students.

Anyways, my friend who is a complete n00b at computers, his msn signs in and everything works fine, but everyone elses will sign in but you will not be able to change status, talk or block anyone etc.

Does anyone know why his works but no one elses doesnt? He uses the exact same password as we do and is set up the same. I have even tryed using the version of msn that he does and it still doesnt work

Any help appreciated thanks

Try installing Trillian and use that for MSN as it doesn't require you to write to the registry so you can install it anywhere, such as a network drive. ;)

Ok thanks I will try this. I am still very curious as to why his msn works but no one elses doesnt, considering that we have the exact same settings. Is their any other settings that anyone can think of that would affect this?

Not sure, does the user login separately to the computer? If so, maybe their user rights are higher than yours.. unless you're just trying to login to MSN while in the same session.

If so, then this is puzzling, but as long as the ports are not blocked, you should be able to use Trillian. It will work for MSN, AIM, Yahoo, IRC, Google talk, and ICQ and doesn't require admin rights to install to the registry.
