he has a 128MB NVIDIA(R) GeForce(TM) FX Go5600, and everytime he tries to update his drivers it says:

"the NVIDIA Setup program could not locat any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit"

anyone know why it says this?? does this mean he can never update his drivers??

just for note, his rest of his specs are:
? Pentium(R) 4 3.06 GHZ w/HT
? Microsoft(R)Windows(R) XP Pro

Where did you get the drivers from? You should either be using the latest NVidia ForceWare drivers or, if that doesn't work, download the latest video driver from the laptop manufacture's web site. Sometimes the video electronics are not compatible with the generic NVidia drivers. Some OEM vendors customize their hardware.

Either way you SHOULD NOT use the Update feature in Device Manager. You should run the installer (usually a SETUP.EXE file) that comes with the drivers.
