First off I'll say that I'm glad they got one for more than one reason.

Why would the guy contact a laywer? He had a BAC of .09 and had to spend the night in jail. License gone for 30 days... and I'm sure fines. With his insurance going to skyrocket... what else would the lawyer do?

Basically just wanting some people who know to chime in and make fun of drunks.

Good day

.09 If he fights it, it will get dropped to reckless. Doesn't change the fact that your friends an idiot.

lawyer keeps him from getting in over his head. A DUI hearing can be stressful and if you say ANYTHING that they could nail ya on they will. A lawyer there just keeps you from getting in too deep and only getting charged with what you did or reduced charges if there was an error in procedure by the cop, court, etc.

Because $2000 for a lawyer is cheaper than $100 more a month for insurance for the next 5 years. They will most likely either drop the charge or lower it to reckless driving.

More like 3 in an hour I think. But of course it depends entirely on the individual and other factors. The legal limit is artificially low.

Because it's wrong and someone could have seriously got hurt. Why else would I want drunk drivers on the road...

I got pulled over with a .10 about 4 years ago and I went in and talked to the public attorney and she got them to lower the charge to a careless driving. It was still points on my insurance and record, but better than a DWI. I still paid quite a bit more in insurance for the next 3 years and I definitely learned my lesson. He will also be on suspension, so any alcohol related offense in the next few years, he will be screwed. Anyway, thats my .02

:D No wonder people drive while intoxicated. We have people estimating that you'll hit the legal limit after 1 beer, 2-3 beers, 3 beers, 3-4 beers or 5 beers. :D

I'm assuming the legal limit where you are is .08
If he was at .09, do you really think he was that much further impaired then if he'd been right at the legal limit? What was he pulled over for?

According to this:

a 180lb person drinking five 12oz beers in 1 hour will have a BAC of .08%

make sure he follows protocol, and doesn't get himself MORE screwed.

Even with a guilty plea, it's a pretty damn good idea to get a lawyer.
