Friend's car got keyed!

One of my friend's got his car keyed a few weeks ago (I just heard about it). $1700 or $1800 in damage. The a$$hole pressed the key in so hard that the panel's actually dented. The funny part (sort of), though, is the guy left a note on the windshield. It basically said:

"In case you didn't notice, I keyed your car. Have a nice day."

WTF?!??!

Oh yeah, it's a M3 convertible and I believe he was parked in Oracle's company lot (Redwood Shores, the Bay Area). I can understand getting keyed up in an urban area (downtown, around clubs, etc)... but a company parking lot in?

If that happened to me I would put in an automated alarm system with a 3 second warning, if they dont move from the car it shoots them.

not trying to defend anyone, but most ppl do that for a reason, like cutting them off and forcing them off the road...
or excessive stairing... i dunno
i just think its unlikely it was just a random act of fun.
I'm not saying your friend did anything horrible either. some ppl just have short fuses.

Yah, he was hella pissed at first. But, what can you really do? He called the cops and they basically said if no one was hurt, they weren't gonna bother with it. I thought they could've run a fingerprint check on the note at least.

I dunno. I've ridden with him a few times and didn't notice him ever driving "impolitely". We're all originally from Seattle and drivers from Seattle, in general, are slow but polite. I still get laughed at sometimes when I wave my hand to someone letting me merge into a lane. Whenever someone else waves to me to say thanks, I automatically assume they aren't from California. :)

If the company has security tapes for the parking lot, see if he can view them or get them and try to see who did it.

The offender deserves a serious beating. I am not a violent person but such blatant disrespect for personal property (especially expensive stuff) is one thing that will make me go violent. I bet the pole smoker was just jealous.

We wave here in Michigan too.

I'm grown up in Southern California and I wave when people let me in. I appreciate it when people wave to me when I let them in too. I was in Southern California until I was 18, then I moved to Davis for a year and I'm down here again for hte summer. I'm going up there again for a couple years in a week. My brother down here also waves.

I usually don't get very pissed when I drive. I don't think I've ever used my horn once. Of course, sometimes just catching me on a bad day will piss me off tremendously. Too bad I only drive a 93 camry LE. Keeps me from killing myself. :)

A guy did it? What a pussy. I thought only jealous chicks keyed cars. If you want to fight me, fine let's go man to man. But, don't ever, ever, fvck with a man's car.

People also don't tend to key the '93 Camry. :)

There are those who key cuzz they're jealous, and there are those who key cuzz they hate. :) Hey, my 93 camry looks pretty nice. Hasn't even hit the 100k mark yet. :) Unfortunetly, I have dents and nicks from people who don't know how to open their damn doors! It wasn't my first choice, but the car I wanted to buy was 800 bucks out of my price range after taxes and stuff so I ended up with Mom's car.

your friend's car insurance will cover the damage.

and blame microsoft, its always their fault. if microsoft made a car, it would only crash two times a day performing illegal operations on Highway.exe

Maybe someone would key somebody's car for no reason, but would they stop to leave a friggin' NOTE? I'm positive that this wasn't a random act, especially since it dented the car. Did he screw over another employee or something?

After checking for surveillance tapes, make a short list of people who could possibly have a grudge and GRAPHOANALYZE them. Then get them fired, then arrested, then beat the pulp out of them while they are out on bail, then dance on their writhing husk...
