Hey everyone,

A friend that I have sold a Dell 2005fpw monitor to (new) has been having issues as of late. They have been running it for about 11 months without any problems and took it down for a few weeks and recently put it back up. However now the monitor hsa been like flickering, I mean the screen comes on and off, but the power button and "2" stay lit green. I went through with them to go to the desktop properties, make sure it said "extend my windows desktop on this monitor" had them switch the card to another monitor (2 video cards with 1 vga and 1 dvi on each card). After they switched from VGA cord to DVI and plugged into the secondary video card rather the the primary like before, and got them to get the "extend my windows desktop onto this monitor" the monitor came back on. They were thrilled, and after about 2 minutes they said "ohhh, there it goes again, just went out" 20 seconds later "ohhh here it is again!" and so forth. It is now out (blank) with the green 2 and green power button still on.

I have no idea what else to try. Is this a common problem among 2005fpw's? It is the latest revision model. I told them I think it would be an electrical problem, but could it be like the DVI cable into the computer? They have tighetened them and still is blank. I have even had them go and get another power cable to plug into it, and plug it DIRECTLY into the wall, and still blank.

Any ideas?

I have the same monitor and was also having similar problems. Check all the connections of the cables on the monitor side. I found that my cable coming from the video card wasn't secured properly to the monitor input.

or atleast anyone have any experience with sending it in for warranty purposes even though they are not the original owners?

Leaving the monitor powered on without a video source should at first show a blank screen, then show a moving object floating around the screen much like a screensaver. If it's not even doing that then something is up. Send it in for repairs.
