if you have some time, shop for the following items and pack them in your car. your girlfriend's car. your sister's car. your momma's car:

1. hooded fleece jacket. (get on discount from outdoor store)
2. poncho
3. compact survival blanket (campmor.com)
4. flashlight w/ battery stored separately (preferably durable, rainproof, LED-flashlight like Inova)
5. jumper cables
6. medium-sized multi-tool (need not be victorinox/wenger/leatherman, but should be large!)
7. liter of water
8. dry food (like 3 CLIF bars)
9. lighter/matches
optional:
1. flare
2. hazard triangle
3. ??
most likely, and hopefully, you wont ever be in a situation where youll need to employ all these things... but i guarantee you'll find having some snacks and water there handy (just remember to replenish!)
