Just received a poopydookie text message, one of those "Bet you can't guess who I am har har" messages that redirects to this website FriendJungle.com. Between this and the "This is the second notice that the factory warranty on your vehicle has expired" spam calls I'm starting to get really annoyed.

Will donotcall.gov really help? From the looks of it all that does is allow me to file a complaint, but I doubt the people that waste their time with this bullshit actually care about a do not call list, kind of like housekeeping could give a shit less if you put up a do not disturb sign.

Any other alternatives to finally end these spam attacks? Luckily I have unlimited texting, or AFAIK I'd have to pay for any spam messages I receive.

I have not yet started getting spam texts on a regular basis. I do not have a text plan, so I fly into a $0.10 rage whenever I get one.

I do get a lot of those car warranty things in the regular mail, though. Who pays to send actual junk mail anymore?!?

I don't have a text message plan so I get charged 20c for each incoming or outgoing message. I have kept it unblocked in case of emergency messaging, but recently started receiving spam. I called to have it blocked entirely since VZ support says the only way to prevent it is to use the online form and submit addresses that are sending them. Too bad it's random just like spam email and it won't work effectively.

I won't pay $5/mo. (aka $60/yr) to have text messaging I rarely ever use.

I ran into the same problem.

It is not in the phone companies' financial interest to block any texts. Whether you end up paying per text or you give in and sign up for a text plan, it is win-win for Verizon, AT&T, et al.
