Hi everyone,
2-2.5 years ago I built my friend a system based on a 8RDA+ and and 2500+ Barton. Pc ran beautifully like a champ. However recently he has been having all sorts of crazy issues and brought it over for me to look at. I noticed he was getting random C1 errors and code 53 etc...none of it made sense. I reseated ram, removed dust and I couldn't figure it out. The motherobard also occasionally listed voltages as extremely low and non existant...and then as I was staring at the board inside the pc thinking...I noticed about 1/4th to 1/3rd of the capacitors were rotting very visibly and I was amazed I didn't notice this earlier

Immediately I remembered the debacle that occured a while back with the whole capacitor issue. What did Epox do to address the issue? I know ABIT issued returns immediately for all of their products, and I want to know what EPOX did.

Are we still in line for an RMA, or is it a "tough luck" situation right now?

I'd appreciate any info as the EPOX site for me is ridiculously SLOW...like it takes minutes for it to load up; so I'm crippled in trying to navigate that site.

Again I'd like to express my thanks ahead of time to anyone willing to point me in the right direction and give advice

you can't return it, it's out of warranty. you could replace the caps. I pulled my old epox 8k7a out of storage not long ago, it has bulging and leaky caps. It was a serious problem with boards made about 2yrs ago.

..I'm suprised they won't honor something like that. Though that would mean I'd need to find out the specs of each capacitor~ either way slightly dissapointed :(

you can replace them with caps of equal or somewhat greater ratings, ie: a 1500uf cap replaced with a 2000uf.

epox might replace the caps, but im almost certain they'd charge you for atleast labor.

Are you sure it's out of warranty? My Epox 9NPA+ Ultra came with a 3-year warranty. I say, never venture, never win! Call/email Epox. They know they put out a defective product a ways back, and they may be willing to honor some type of service on the board.

epox hasn't always had a 3yr warranty. Asus started with a 2yr warranty a couple years ago, then everyone else followed

I'm having exactly the same problem with my 8RDA+ and have requested an RMA even though the 2-year warranty expired around 5-months ago:Q. In case I get turned down, what would be a good, stable and not too expensive Socket A board I could buy to replace the 8RDA+. TIA

Are you sure?
A guy I know got a well out of warranty 8RDA replaced due to this whole cap debacle..

I also sent an Aopen MX3S-T board (PIII board) into Aopen for full warranty replacement due to the bad caps as well, just last week. Which is like a 3-4 y/o board! They had no problem honouring it.

Contact EPoX to see if they will even at least be willing to send you the replacement caps like Soltek used to do, free of charge.

They might. I got the caps replaced on a motherboard that was at least a year out of warranty, maybe 2. I think it was an 8KHA board, KT266A based if I remember correctly.

Do their RMA form, and say that you've got leaking caps, and that you'd like them to be replaced. Your luck may vary though. You'll have to pay shipping both ways though. Epox asked $7 of me for the return shipping. It arrived with all caps 1500uF (or maybe 1000uF) or higher replaced with new ones of a different brand. The dying ones were marked GSC, though a number of capacitor brands were affected.

Received an email and RMA number from EPoX this AM. In my RMA request, I had mentioned receiving a C1 post code, observing 10 capacitors which were bulging/leaking electrolyte and that this was a know issue w/these boards. I'm about to pull the mobo out of my rig now.

I finally received a new mobo in exchange after two weeks of Epox have received the bad one. I have just installed it and it seems to be working fine

I have an epox 9npa+. One thing about buying an epox that almost made me not buy it, is their support is ONLY via email from what I see. They have no number to call. I am hoping I never have to RMA this board. :)
