A good friend of mine recently just bought all these parts, and built the comp.... but he never keeps anything for more then 2 weeks, he wants to sell it... so I told him if he gives me a decent price, I'll consider picking it up....

He's asking for 1130 for everything.

E6600 @ 3.6 w/ ninja 1100+ (running at 3.0 now..)
nfeneon/aeneon aet760ud00-25d's 2x1gb ddr1066 @ 5-4-4-18 @ 1.9 voltage
asus p5n-e 650i
Black Lian Li Classical Limited Edition Full Tower All Aluminum G-Series Case
Pioneer 212 Sata dvd burner
Corsair HX 520 Watt Power Supply
EVGA 8800gts 320mb
Antec 120mm Smart fan on the ninja
3 120mm Enlobals around the case.....

If you guys can give any opinions it would be awesome!
=D

Price checks are not allowed. "Is system X worth $Y?" is awfully close.

Look for comparable used system on eBay or from other sources if you want to see what it would be worth on the open market.

exactly as mathias99 said - no price checks.

go on newegg and price out the components yourself and see where it comes in and also ask yourself if you like the parts he has put together, because honestly, just off the top of my head and imho i don't think it is that good of a deal

kind of looks like he is charging you full retail price. fwiw i wouldn't buy it at that price and wouldn't build a c2d like that, but that is my opinion and preference.

why is he running it @ 3GHz now when it can do 3.6? is it not stable at 3.6? also you need to find out the actual brand of the ram - that sounds like you got the name of the actual ram chips, not the assembler like corsair, ocz, crucial, etc.

Personally I'd never buy a system that new second hand - you never know what might have been done to it intentionally or unintentionally, even if the seller is a friend, and you can't guarantee it's been assembled with skill and attention to detail. And there's part selection - it has been tailored to your friend not you. Is that the case you'd choose if you were buying new?

And of course you miss out on the satisfaction of opening all those lovely boxes 😉

Never understood that one.

1) The forums would constantly be flooded with people asking "How much is X worth?"

2) They don't want people to post asking "How much is X worth?", then posting it in the For Sale/For Trade forum asking for exactly that amount. It's supposed to be a sales forum, not an auction site.

Very very true. Unless it's been running at least a few months, built by a respectable manufacturer with support, I wouldn't buy a used system except for scrap (tear out every part). Especially true for these personally built machines. Chances are they don't know what they're doing, and if they do, components love to be dicks and start throiwing errors around anyways.
