Friend wants a new card to run oblivion

his Pc as far as i know
(1.5GB RAM|3.0 P4 HT 350 watt PSU)
PCI-E
his current card is a x300

he says hes fine if it only runs on medium or so
which of these 2 cards would be better
7600GS $65
HIS x1650 51$
or is this worth all the extra cash?
EVGA 79--GS 105$

open to other suggestions/websites

Seems like it is performing worse in Quake 4, I would assume that it would be the same in Oblivion.

8500GS, that is. 8600 seems to be performing better.

And he is coming from X300. Anything NVidia 7600 and up or ATI 1650 and above will be SO MUCH better...

This would probably blow his socks off coming from that video card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16814127295 Note that it is overclocked and has GDDR3, as opposed to the previously linked Biostar 8600GT which has GDDR2. A reviewer in the comments is thrilled with Oblivion performance, and it is $89. The MSI card you linked to is obviously going to be good, and has GDDR3, as well, and is overclocked. The Biostar is not a good choice with Gddr2 over the 8500GT with GDDR3 IMHO.

Yes, right there in the chart we see that the 8600GT is better than the 1950GT and the 7900GS for Oblivion performance. That MSI card would be good for him, or like I said, if he wants cheaper, the GDDR3 8500GT wouldn't be a bad choice for $89.

I think that the 7900GS is possibly the best bang for buck GPU @ ~$100.

(That is of course if DX10 isn't a necessity).
