he is open to recommendations. he is looking for a sports car or atleast a sporty car

i recommended the 3.2TL to him, some others suggested the evo

get the evo!! :D
that thing is a FUN MACHINE!
3.2TL is a boring family car... your friend would have so much fun driving the evo.

Hm.. that about covers it.

He should just do some research and pick a car he likes. How about the 350z?

If I had $30k I'd buy a '97-98 Nissan 240SX, put a few grand into it and then put the rest of the money into savings.

Tell him to buy a used Duece and a half. He can mount some flak cannons on the back of it if he wants.

If he can't find a car he can be satisfied with for under $30k, he has a problem.

I'd say get a TSX and let him have an illusion of sportyness :p

Oh, and a GTO fits very nicely into that budget.:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

a slightly used Vette or a GN (those things go for like 10 to 15K ... so he should pocket the rest)

My parents wouldn't even pay for my college textbooks.

My roommate calls his dad and gets permission to put a 27" TV on the credit card.

I call my parents "Hey, books ran me about 400 dollars, do you think you could help me out a bit?"
them: "You still have a savings account, don't you? Get a couple jobs"
me: "but I have a job."
them: "More. More jobs."

300C would cost well over 30k.

How is the resale on the PT Cruiser? I would imagine the 300C would depreciate similarly.

Parents buying a sports car probably isn't a good idea, since to truly respect and appreciate the car you need to work for it, and not appreciating or respecting a sports car will most likely end up with him in the meat wagon.

He should buy an old POS, learn to drive and shift - then get a new car.
