Friend spilled water on his laptop...

A buddy was playing with his dog and knocked a glass of water over on his laptop. He immediately tried to dry it off, and it appears that everything is fine except a couple of his keyboard keys don't work.

Anyone have any ideas on what to do to attempt a fix or is he just SOL?

*EDIT* I should mention that this was this morning, and the keys still don't work.

I would attempt a disassemble, and let the parts air dry until completely dry. Put back together and it should be good to go.

If he can, he should remove the keyboard and use a blow dryer to completely dry it out. He may need to get a new kb, however.

doesnt a hair dryer cause a lot of static electricity?

Have you tried a USB keyboard? is the mouse/touchpad workin?

I'd definitely do a tear down/rebuild. Clean off all the connectors, re-seat everything & do general spring cleaning on the hardware. Then put it back together and see what happens.

Well if it's just water then that's no biggie... ;)

It's actually not too hard to remove laptop's keyboard. Properly putting it back might be a little more challenging. Go manufacturer's website and see if you can find a instruction on upgrading/replacing parts. The keyboard are connected to the mainboard via a thin plastic ribbon cable. You'll need small philip and flat head screw driver and ability to mark down where are all the screw needs to go back after you remove them.
