I have 4 Gigs of Crucial Ballistix DDR400. I left 2 gigs in slots 1 and 3....system posted and booted fine. So now i figure its a memory problem. So I take the other 2 sticks, put them in 1 and 3...posts and boots fine. Then I put the same sticks in 2 and 4, and nothing. Same with the other pair. So now im thinking that it is a bad dimm slot because I used 1 single dimm, and the computer posted and booted with the 1 dimm in slots 1, 2, 3, but not 4. So does this mean i got a defective mobo? The timing on the mem is 2-2-2-5 1T when just 2 gigs is installed. 2.5-2-3-5 1T when all 4 was installed. Would changing it to 2T help?
this is from a friend of mine, he is running a FX 57 cpu, forget which MoBo.
i told him he shouldn't be bothering with 4 dimms anyway because it messes the timing up when using AMD processors anyway.
any ideas here folks?
