Friend needs help

My friend needs some help. She needs the cheapest place available to stay for the next week or 2 while she saves up money for an apartment. The place she's at is her uncle's and they are moving out cause they were just renting and the lady who owns the place is selling it.

The city is Newport News Virginia

She's a navy reservist (but no discounts i know of for being it it)

Any ideas would be appreciated.

(I know some hotels offer a discount for extended stays, if anyone knew of a place for $20-30 extended stay that would be great).

city options are Newport News, Yorktown, and Hampton VA

Is she assigned to a ship she can move into?
How about barracks on base?
There are so many apartments available in this area. I once briefly lived in a 3 story, 8 bedroom home over by Old Dominion University (ODU) that had people coming and going non-stop.
Does she know anyone in that area that could keep her for a couple weeks?
There should be ads in papers maybe or on the bulletin board in the barracks.

she doesn't want a roomate, thats why she's looking at a cheap hotel for now. she's a navy reservist, so she doesn't stay at the base

Maybe she could house-sit for someone going on deployment.

EDIT:
The exchange and commissary may have bulletin boards to check for ads.
