Friend keeps getting kicked off AIM

Hey,

My friend has AIM and he keeps pesetering me to get MSN IM even tho I don't want it. Thje problem is aim kicks him off every 5 or so minutes and its quite ridiculous. Nothing else does this and his internet never experiences hiccups yet AIM has some kind of fetish and it keeps doing this problem.

Does anyone have a "OH! That happened to me and this is how you solve it!" type of comment The AIM Faq is practically useless and you can't even contact them for help. I dun wanna swtich away from AIM tho (or even USE Msn ) because like 99.9% of people @ uci use it so its convenient

Does he happen to be using a third-party AIM client (i.e. not an official one from AOL)? I've heard stories about AOL banning all clients but their official ones from the network, and I'm not sure (lacking direct experience in this case) if that could be the cause of his problems.

Use Gaim if you are just using AIM for chatting.

Dunno much about how to transfer file through Gaim though

it might be someone else logging into his name from another location, that happened to me, like the other persons comp just auto logged me on and logs the other comp off, have him log in and change his password and then see if that helps
