They can legally come in if your door is wide open or unlocked I think.

Also if you step outside they can arrest you with out a warrenty but if you stay inside they need a warrent. If a cop shows up at your door and you think he is there because you did something illegal best is not to answer or talk from a window.

Yeah, its funny how they can arrest you for nothing like that. Maybe one of our resident legal gumshoes knows whether they can come in if you talk through the window without identifying yourself. I'd think without probably cause to believe its the suspect they'd need a warrant, too. But the cops are always pushing the limits of legality. They definitely don't care about principles and ethics at all.

An old friend of mine said that being a cop is genetic. The only way to get rid of the bad ones is to execute their entire family. Radical, but he's from a family of lawyers.

Depends on your state. PA doesn't let you get a license until 16. I didn't get mine until 18. I bsically had to be forced to get one. Driving scared me, and I just didn't really have anywhere pressing to go at the time. Driving still puts me on edge, but I do have places to go now....like work. Yay.

But I'm still curious, just why did the police get called on your friend? The whole thing sounds rather odd to me.

She was at a party and a neighbor complained and just happened to get her license plate number when she left. She was cited for nothing else.

Wow...I actually can't believe the cops in her city have nothing better to do than to track down someone for an MIP...or that ANYBODY would be anal enough to write down license plates of people attending a party and calling the cops on them. I assumed it was a noise complaint at HER house.

People really need more to do, otherwise it seems they spend their time sticking their noses where they don't belong.

The cops in my city have something better to do: Raising decent children...too bad they don't do it. I swear every cop's child I know in my city does tons of illegal stuff behind their parents' backs.

In my county, not just this town, the kids of the sheriff and deputies have traditionally been drug dealers. Every once in awhile you hear about this kid or that kid making a furtune after they leave the town. a few will always suspect they got big selling drugs since so many did before. Sad commentary on rural America. But that is how it seems to work here.
