Friend just bought a brand new Honda Civic Type R GT, and I?ve just taken it for a spin?.

Well, it looks quite nice and the engine sounds amazing, but I can't say I'm overly impressed with the performance.

The best bit about this car is the fact that it revs past 8k rpm. It?s simply immense how the engine pulls as it does at that high of an RPM, the fun just starts at 6k rpm.

The car is very nice all round, just needs a few more horses under the bonnet. He only had the standard 18inch wheels, it?s a shame he didn?t have the 19inch wheels as they look much better.

It would make it slower due to the larger rolling radius. However, they look much better IMO. He showed me the brochure which had pictures of the 19inch wheels.

The thing I hate most about the car, is the damn spoiler thing that cuts off half of you view when you look out of the back window.

I thought the red digital dash and engine start button were cool though. The seats were nice too.

I wouldn?t buy one though.

My friend?s dad is one of the logistics managers in the UK Honda plant, so he got a nice discount.

You took a brand new car up to redline?

BTW-Try a Lotus Elise. It makes 190hp and revs to over 8,000 rpms but weighs about 1900lbs. There is no shortage of power or performance on that car! Oh, and it has 16" wheels.

Edit-Yes, I mentioned the Lotus Elise again...those of you who don't like it can bite me. :p

I remember Clarkson practically having the big-O over the Integra-R ;)

Those cars are insane, one over took me on the motorway at 90Mph. It was extremely quick.

I'd love to have a burn in one of them.

Downside? Hit ANYTHING at 5mph and the car is toast. :p The car is 1900lbs because it has no structural stability...the car is mostly fiberglass. Not something I'd feel safe in, no matter how good a driver I am.

most 'euro' V8s are the same configuration as ford/gm V8s. only a few exotic cars use the flat plane V8s, which are little more than 2 4 cylinder engines mated together (and sound like it)

Bah.. ..|.. dug :p

Call me a sadist, but I also like the low guttural sound the 350Z/G35/FX35/FX45 makes...it's not as offending as some other cars (Z06 included...Vettes just make a lot of noise, but it's good noise). :)

Something i've always loved is a Maserati Quattroporte (sp?) launching flat-tack off the line...

There's something very cool about those distinctive tail-lights going ever so slightly sideways then nailing it out of sight ;)
