Friend is mad at me

so a buddy of mine was in a pretty bad car accident last Saturday. luckily he's just bruised and the car is totaled. I couldn't make it out to see him on Sunday because of bad weather. plus i didnt want to drag my kids out with me in subzero temperatures. found out that friend went back to work on Monday. he's not answering calls or anything because he's mad at us for not visiting him or checking up on him.

am i a bad friend 🙁 or is he just acting like a pussy?
 
How close are you, and did you know it wasn't serious at the time you decided it was too cold to go see him?
 
The latter.

I can almost see his point, but it's not anything to get hissy over. He can rag you guys for a little while, but not get actually upset over it.
 
Unless the bad weather was severe enough that going out wasn't safe, you should've gone to visit, but he is overreacting to this.

close, but not THAT close. he's busy, i'm busy.. we only see each other at get togethers. how serious could it be if he went back to work on Monday?

If he's back at work already, it couldn't have been that bad. Send him a tampon and a Drivers Education book. If that doesn't make him laugh, consider this an opportunity to spend more time with your kids.

Yep, and just like how some parents know that babysitters aren't always the easiest to schedule. A concert tends to be planned ~1 month in advance. A friend being sent to hospital...not as much.
 
You are not required to see an injured friend unless they are in the hospital for more than three days or have broken themselves in a way that makes them ripe for ridicule (Ex. Man loses a leg and now has the nickname "stumpy").
