Friend having problem with Battlefield 2

The computer is restarting on itself when the game loads up and when it hits 5% it totally restarts the computer and windows........and when he logs back to windows he gets an error message and tells him that this file is causing the problem...

I think it maybe his video card because when i look up the requirements....it's not supported....anyways it's 256 mb FX5500, thing is he was playing it well last night and now it suddenly restarts later today....but he's getting a new AGP video card 9800 Pro tomorrow....hopefully that fixes the problem...

all updates and patches and drivers implemented...

I'll ask him about temperatures...

and it's just BF2 restarting....
