So, one of my best friends has been dating this girl since just after he met her in college. She is also one of my good friends, we love to double date and go out together. I started noticing her behavior changeing and decided to talk to my friend about it. I know all the tells a drug users inadvertantly displays and was fairly sure she was using cocaine more and more regularly. (She admit to having used it in the past.) I encouraged him to talk to her about this before her behavior becomes destructive. She constantly resisted talking about it, and we never really got anywhere helping her. The other night she broke down and told us the truth, she has cancer and just heard from the doctor that they don't expect her to live past July. It was a devastating night for all of us. Just 20 years old, so fully of life and energy, and just a few more months of life to enjoy. I don't believe in God one bit, but I've been praying for this girl who doesn't deserve to die so early into her life. I don't know really what else to say, I'm still trying to take all this in myself. Just thought I'd share with all the good folks of ATOT as a reminder of how precious life is and that you should never take anything you have for granted.
