Hi,

I'm not sure if this is the correct subforum to post in, but I believe the issue is related to the motherboard (ASUS Prime Z270-AR). About a month ago my friend booted his PC up and it wouldn't post. He took it to a PC repair shop a couple of weeks later and they diagnosed it as the PSU (had a blown capacitor apparently.) PSU was replaced with Seasonic Gold Focus 650W. They also said his GPU was defective too -- however maybe if the motherboard is faulty, this is not the case?

The shop said they checked the motherboard and CPU and they were fine.

Now he is having difficulty booting up. The LEDs turn on and off (red, green, orange and white -- at different times) and he keeps rebooting until it eventually posts. I looked up the manual but some of the colours don't match the manual for some reason.

I just walked him through updating his BIOS to latest version. Turned off fast boot in Windows and turned off fast boot in BIOS. PC did boot immediately but that could be a pure coincidence. Going to test a few more times and see if it will consistently boot (particularly cold boot) but would appreciate any input/thoughts on what the issue could be.

Any thoughts on what this might be? What could be tested?

If it keeps happening, I would disconnect anything not required to complete POST. Unplug usb devices, HDD's, SSD's, NVME's, only 1 DIMM at a time, and see what happens. Does your friend have the old power supply and graphics card handy?
