Friend building comp I don't know what else to advise...

Powers up but no video what so ever. Just a blank screen. I told him to double check and try his 1700+ that he has to me make sure it's not the proc. He tried that does the same thing. He replaced my 9800pro with one of his cards. Same issue occured.


Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

This is with a Abit NSF7 (sp?) and a 2500+ barton.

1. Reseat everything.
2. Strip to bare minimum and test.
3. Use one stick of memory at a time, swapping each in/out.
4. Try a new PSU.
5. I'm thinking...

That's an Nforce 2 board.... It's got a VGA port right on the back... Unless i'm crazy, which is a distinct possibility.

Same bloody difference, but anyway, this is an easy first step to try. It will also possibly point the finger towards a bad mobo, or exhonerate the mobo.

No it doesn't have onboard video. He tried different psus and different vid cards that were proven to work. So that's not it...

check the cheapo power strip to make sure its on

Did it just stop working, or is this a new build?

Before you call everything lost, take everything out of the case to eliminate problems like Tick mentioned.

Put the motherboard on a piece of cardboard.
Only have the following installed CPU, HS/F, ram, vid card.
Connect the powersupply and monitor.
Start it up by shorting out the two pins on the motherboard that the power switch connects to.
