i got the x800pro refurb deal, got the card last night was able to play a little call of duty and a few rounds of 3dmark. then all of a sudden started getting things that look like this in all 3d applications, including the 3d preview window in CCC:

temps are cool, 30c inside my case. antec 430w psu is doing fine according to mbm, never dipping below 11.98 on the 12v rail. 2d is fine. is it time to rma this card? or could some driver / software issue be the problem? the problem started right after i installed guildwars btw.

Does your Guild wars items look funny? Like square blocks instead of the actual items? I had a problem with guild wars with the 6800GT but an older driver fixed it..

Which driver set did you install? And are you overclocking the card at all?

I just placed an order for an X800 Pro AGP refurb from ATI, I hope this isn't going to be my fate as well. :(

And if it is your fate...RMA it for a replacement. No big deal...it happens sometimes. I received maybe 3 or 4 detective PC parts over the years to include a HD, a mobo, a stick of RAM and a video card and it doesn't bother me having to pay a few back to ship them back for a replacement because I've saved literally thousands of dollars buying the vast majority of my PC parts on-line.

Oh, I buy ALL my parts online. With the exception of monitors that is. I've had to RMA my fair share of stuff, too. I'm just hoping that ATI's refurb QA is up to snuff is all. :)

i installed the 5.8, i uninstalled and reinstalled problem only seems to have gotten worse. maybe i will try uninstalling drivers & also motherboard drivers, doing hardcore driver cleaning and then reinstall... but guess probably not as it seems to be a progressive problem at this point... :( also no overclocking at all
funny thing is, all the dxdiag direct3d tests looked fine *shrug*

If you are going to go ahead and uninstall and reinstall your drivers, try using Driver Cleaner. It'll clean all the files left behind by the uninstaller. Plus you can run the included Cab Cleaner and really tidy things up. Make sure to run Driver Cleaner and Cab Cleaner from safe mode after uninstalling all ATI software and rebooting.

Good luck.

i already did that, but only cleaned driver.cab should i also be cleaning sp1.cab and sp2.cab? also, i used to have an nvidia card, used driver cleaner but only for the "nvidia" setting wondering if i should use the "nvidia WDM" setting also? thanks.

It probably won't matter if you clean those items or not, but I'd go ahead and do it just to be on the safe side.

Have you tried to run RTHDRIBL yet? If you can run it with no corruption or lockups then the problem is not your card.

ran it, at first things were ok but soon red green and blue pixelated patterns became permanently affixed on surfaces and also flickering around the screen.

From the pics it looks like rendering errors ( probably bad pipelines ). You get a three year warranty so I'd RMA it. BTW. My x800xt pe refurb from ATI Store hits 560 core / 590 memory with no problems on stock cooling in a Shuttle "shoebox" computer.
