Fried NB hurt other components?

Hi my IC7 had its Northbridge fan fall off. I've still been using it a bit without any type of cooling. So far it's been just as stable as it always. I think I did get close to frying the NB at one point when it smelled like burning in the case. I shut it off and let it sit for awhile. Still worked okay after that. The only quirks that I've had are that a few times when I've tried starting the computer it will power up for about 2 sec then shutdown with no beeps or anything. But usually it starts fine. Other then that you wouldn't know that there was anything wrong with it. My question is this: am I putting my other components at risk by still running it for a bit each day? If the NB craps out would it just render the mobo unable to work or could it actually screw up something else too? I have another mobo on its way but I'd just like to know so I don't have extra problems on my hands.
