I switched my brother's computer to a new case and when I try to power on the computer, it won't. All I hear is a click and all I see is the led on the motherboard that indicates the power supply is ready. I have tried the power supply on a different motherboard and it works fine. I have tried a different power supply on the motherboard, however, and it's the same result as the other power supply. What could be wrong?

I have an AV40s motherboard, Pentium 4 2.4 Ghz, 400W ATX 12v power supply. please help. I'm gonna have to blow at least $30 for this and I am very poor.

This is the $#%ing case that started all of this.

I recently had a similar experience. My problem was solved when I discovered the front USB port connector on the case and the header on my board weren't using the same pinouts. It was actually keeping my board from powering up. Once I unplugged that connector the board booted fine. So check all your connectors first and make sure they are all seated correctly, and if you have any "strangers" unplug them one at a time and retest.

I have learned a lot from reading these boards, so I wish you luck, with this problem.

Working on computers is the one thing that can make me break out in a cold sweat.............but I keep doing it........................:D

Thanks a lot! That is one thing I was wondering about but didn't bother to try. I will definitely do that. Thanks!
