Fried Mobo?

Hey folks,

My monitor no longer detects a signal form the computer. It was working fine and just happened all of a sudden. I opened up the machine and the cpu fan is no longer running. I pulled all the cards out (both agp/pci) and booted the thing up, wouldn't ya know...cpu fan starts running again. As soon as I putin either a PCI card or the agp vid card the cpu fan goes again. Sort of a dillema becase I cant see what the computer is doing without the vid card installed. Is my motherboard fried? Anyone have any experience with something like this.

The computer is a custom built machine put together like four years ago. So it is an older board, Abit LX6 to be exact.

Man, this sucks...if anyone could offer any suggestions I would really appreciate it. Thanks guys,

Kevin
