Fridge is leaking water inside - Mold everywhere - w/PICS - NASTY

So my fridge is all messed up, there is about 1/4 inch of water on the bottom of it with mold growing/floating on top of the water.

1 - How do I clean it out of there?

2 - How do I fix the fridge to stop it from leaking?

edit - my current tactic is i have turned the fridge to max in an attempt to freeze everything and take it out in a couple chunks. also, the fridge started leaking after a brownout.

all the mold is sorta floating on the water in the bottom, i almost need to vacuum it up.

My housemate is the one who uses the fridge, I only use it to store beer. I keep all my food in the freezer. I didn't notice until a couple days ago.

If it's just beer in the fridge, don't worry. No health problems, and nobody will steal your brew. Just wipe the lip of the can off with a bleach soaked rag, and enjoy.

That looks like a problem with the power being off for an extended period of time after 'stuff' had leaked and it allowed mold to grow.

The OP's problem is that the fridge still works and is creating the mold problem. More than likely it's some kind of sealing issue allowing humidity in but if all of the door seals are fine and not dry-rotted and the temps are fine, it will probably cost as much to fix it as it would to buy a new 'used' fridge - especially if it's just being used for beer and other drinks etc.

get some rubber gloves, a large garbage bag, and some heavy duty paper towels.

then bleach the hell out of that fridge

I had an almost 15 year old fridge that leaked, tried all sorts of things. Try to findout where it is leaking from. If the liner is cracked, you're screwed pretty much. It was a pain in the ass to clean constantly. Finely got a brand new side by side brushed stainless steel fridge last year. Problem solved.

hmm, i think i might buy a chest freezer for myself. the fridge actually isn't mine, it is the landlords.

Oh boy, thats a total different ballgame. Hopefully with a good cleaning, that will help. And it won't happen again. A freezer, or even a smaller fridge is a good idea. Have seen some cute mini fridges at Homedepot for about $250.00. Good luck.

The conduits going to the evapoator tray are blocked somewhere... .look around you'll find something blocked .....start underneath and work your way up.
Your fridge will be like new (and with mold)

Remove the water with a shopvac or towels or cups or teaspoons.

Bleach + hot water + elbow grease
