fridge compressor not kicking on

the power went out and a day after it came back on we noticed the fridge was not cooling. I have done everything i can think of. Please help.

I have replaced the circuit board, relay, start relay and defrost thermostat. everything is now working but the relay is not clicking and the compressor is doing nothing. i have tested ohms on compressor with a MF-133 analog multimeter and each prong tested .5 ohms. fans are blowing, i have cleaned everything including grounds.

so if the relay and start relay are good, should i hear some sort of click from it trying to start the compressor?

How do you know the relay is good if it is not clicking?

i have 3 diff relays(i believe thats the correct name) that plug into the start capacitor. 2 are brand new. i could be wrong, but if the relay and start capacitor are good and getting power, would they not click when trying to start the compressor?

You need to check if you are indeed getting power to the relay with a multimeter. If it is not getting signal to close the connection to power the compressor, the compressor won't turn on.

That signal should come from the controller.

Being a true appliance, mine would no longer run... discovered on Thanksgiving morning no less.

All it was, the mechanical timer that controls the defrost cycle was stuck. Repairman gave it a nudge with a screwdriver which did the trick until he got a replacement timer.
