Since I'll be at work for the next 9 hours, you get my work desktop :)
Work Desktop

And since I have it saved on my HDD here at work, you also get my home desktop ;)
Home desktop

Hopefully I'll get a chance to play with Samurize a bit this weekend. With work and school, I have really had time to play with my destop configs/settings. :(

you are right. a lot of people to have that samurize style. i have noticed that most of the people who have posted their desktop have something to that layout. it is a really nice one but i decieded to stay away from it to begin with.

mine isnt anything great, it kinda ripps of that theme of the large icon with the stats and all. but its still kinda different.

heheh.

Yeah, I like mixing and matching.

A little bit from column A + column B = My new creation.

kudos man. i really like how u work it in with your desktop. real creativity there. props to you. i love it.

I dont think anyone has gotten that tutorial to work (I love phongs stuff, but his tutorials leave out stuff).. Especially since he uses color dodge, and it was b0rked in 6..

Thank god I'm not the only one with that problem.
I can follow the tutorials exactly-----and sometimes they aren't even close. I'm no PS moron....but I just don't understand enuf yet. ANd some of PHong's tutorials I guess require a little green machine to figure out the missing steps

i dunno guyz, i got it to work just fine.
i turned this into this.

Playing w/ drop shadows:
drop1
drop2
drop3

Dammit. I made a whole ton of stuff using that tutorial that looked really good, but I guess I've lost it over the past year or so... I had some really cool buttons and stuff made up too. Oh well.

lol, it's not supposed to look like the tutorial result. consider, for example the original imagine in the tuturial, and the final result. it turns a dark blue into a girly baby blue. i didn't want that so i changed things around. also read the last part of the tuturial, where you change the curves of the lighting effects in the alpha channel. the function i used is different from that in the tuturial.

here ya go:

g is for ghey

realize that i don't know the color of the font he used in the beginning, so that's gonna be slightly off, as well as the drop shadow at the end. he doesn't state his settings. i also couldn't exactly match his curves function at the end. but close enough.

anyway, the whole point was to be able to give an icon a plastic look. what does it matter if it's not exactly like the tuturial?
