Fresh Vista install question with transferring old Vista settings

I installed Vista back in Aug 2007 for the first time as a fresh install when I built my new box. I'm now getting a new 1TB drive and will be doing a fresh Vista SP1 install on that drive. I've done this before with XP many many times but was curious how the process works with Vista as this will be my first time I'm rebuilding my desktop under this OS.

The way I used to do it in XP was to manually backup my Documents & Settings folder as well as some key folders I knew i wanted to keep from my old C:\ install. I understand in Vista it has a backup / transfer settings wizard that is much more robust than what was provided under XP. Do you guys have any experience with this? Should I just do it all manually and rebuild my settings and configuration from scratch?

I don't want the fresh system to bogged down by any of the old registry (even though my Vista install still runs great) for instance, I guess I'm not sure how the trasfer settings thing works and what exactly gets carried over.

Also kinda worried about my game saves, if I'll need to reinstall my games (they're installed on a separate drive letter), etc.

Let me know your suggetions and how you do it.

Thanks

I've never used the Transfer Settings Wizard and can't find it (I rebuilt my Start Menu), I just point my shell folders to my Storage Partition and selectively copy folders back into AppData. I'm pretty much done after that and some manual configuration.
