I'm about to do a fresh Tiger install on my iBook G4 in prep to sell it. I have all the original media, boxes, cables, etc.

After the install, can I patch this machine to current without registering it? I'd like to leave it ready to go for the next buyer, but not associated with my AppleID. Do you have to have an AppleID to patch the machine?

Thanks for any help!

Anyone need an iBook G4 in very good condition? PM me.

On Leopard, at least, when you get to the registration screen during setup you can press Command (Apple button) + Q to "quit" the screen. It will ask you if you want to skip registration, click ok and go from there. Just setup a default account like "Tiger" with a password of "apple" and leave it on a stickynote on the palmrest for when the buyer first boots it up. Then run updates...none of your account info will be on the machine.
