Fresh install, question about Norton

My dad's laptop is going nuts with pop ups and viruses. I'm going to do a fresh install of windows, but he's insisting on Norton AV because he's paid for the sub. When I do the install what do I need to do to get Norton back on? He can't find the disk, it was pre loaded on the laptop. Does he just go to the Norton site and enter his account info, and it will install the products he's subbed for? Trying to convince him of skipping Norton and putting MSE and other free stuff is pointless right now.
