"windows cannot remove password" and "Windows cannot create password" is my problem. when i go to put a password on my account, it says cannot create. and when i click ok, it says "password protected under my account. then i go to log back in, and i have no idea what the password is, so i go to into the admin acct under safe mode and remove the pw from my acct. and it says windows cannot remove password, and it does it anyway. i just cant create a password. ANY HELP PLEASE, VERY FRUSTRATING

Are you using a disc that contains SP2 slipstreamed? Is this a legit disc? Sounds like possible corruption of some of the files. Is this a real CD? If it is, try cleaning it. Also I'd check your hardware and make sure that isn't causing problems either. More than likely, if you don't have any SPs installed and you're connected to the net, you've been owned.

See what happens when you use an Ultra X-Connect PSU...? 😛

😉

Try the command-line commands if you want to, Start > Run > cmd and use net user yourusername yourdesiredpassword. If it claims there's no such account, type net user to see what the user accounts are named.

Yeah, that's good for keeping the worms out. Did the command-line approach change anything? Maybe create another new account and nuke the troublesome one?

/lowbrow approach
