network.

Did a fresh install on an old hp laptop for a guy at work. It doesn't see the wireless network that my laptop sees fine. Wireless drivers are the latest off hp's site and they installed fine. No issues in device manager.

Any ideas on what to check?

Good question. It's a work network for just the internet. Not sure how I would tell.

Still don't see why my laptop would see the network with no issue.

Looking at the properties of my connection it says Radio Frequency is 2.412 GHz.

Are there other wireless networks visible in the area? If so, does the newly installed laptop see those? Or can it not see any wireless networks at all?

Check to make sure the wireless radio is actually enabled in the laptop. Look for a switch somewhere on the side of the laptop, or an Fn function key. Also look in the adapter's wireless utility and in the Device Manager. It is possible to enable and disable the wireless in any of these locations and while some wireless drivers will update all of them when any option is used to turn the wireless on and off, not all will. I have seen some where the wireless is enabled in all but one spot and that one "disable" overrides everything else.

There is only one other network that I can't get on. So I know the wireless is functioning correctly.

I guess I'll just take it home tonight and see if it sees my home network.

I just hate to give it back to this guy and he gets it home and it doesn't see his.
