installed xp pro last night and updated it with some apps on my pen drive. but the "safely remove hardware" thing that shows up in the sys tray not only shows the pen drive, but also my HDD!!!! why in the world would windows want to allow me to unplug my HDD? how can i get that off of there? i know i won't click that, but don't want anyone else in the house to fubar my comp.

Is it a SATA harddrive? My SATA harddrives are listed in the safely remove hardware option as well. I think you can hotswap SATA harddrives, but don't quote me on that.

hmm, then that might explain it. yes, it's the 74G raptor by WD. would there be a way to remove that via the group policy editor or no?

I just did a fresh install last night and I'm having the same problem. 200GB Seagate Serial ATA hard drive and the stupid little icon won't go away =( Anyone have any solutions?
