I didn't put this in other forums because I truly belive it's a OS issue. Here's the deal, I just installed a 40GB HD in my friends Gateway computer. I did a fresh install of Win ME, and when I boot up to the desktop, there is no mouse pointer at all. The mouse is a USB MS wheel mouse. The computer is using the intel 810 MB and there aren't any serial or PS2 ports. I know the mouse works because when you boot into safe mode, the mouse pointer is there and works fine. Also, when I turn the computer on, if I jump into the BIOS, it says mouse detected. I'm at wits end, any ideas? Thanks now and later.
