I hate canned green beans. I love fresh, crispy green beans.

My girlfriend's taste is the opposite. She can't stand fresh, and she loves canned.

What about you guys? I thought that most people would prefer fresh.

luby's cafeteria tried to switch to fresh green beans. so many people complained that they now switch between canned and fresh on different days.

Canned green beans make me gag.

Fresh green beans aren't that great but at least I'm not retching as I eat them.

Tell your GF to stick a ham hock (preferrably smoke with some meat on it), salt the water, throw some quartered potatoes and onions in the pot and simmer them for about 8 hours.

she'll change her mind.

If there is fresh and you can afford it then there is no comparison or even need for a poll. If fresh cant be had then fresh/frozen, then if I just have to have it canned.

When I was little, we grew a big garden with lots of green beans. Mom would always can a bunch of beans (glass jars with ham, bacon, and onions) and I loved them. So, if I have the choice, I would choose canned green beans. I don't really care for fresh or frozen.

Corn is the opposite for me though. I love frozen/fresh corn while canned corn is horrible.

100% agree, just about my all time favorite dinner.

btw, here is a decent way to prepare canned green beans.

Fry up some bacon, remove some of the bacon grease from pan, but not all of it. Drain a can of green beans, french cut works better, and throw them in the pan with the bacon drippings and heat thoroughly, almost fry them, but not quite. Then crumble the bacon in with the beans. Salt and pepper to taste.

I stopped buying canned veggies years ago. I only buy frozen as it is much better. Not fresh but better than canned.

I hate when beans are crunchy. I prefer canned and usually the fresnch cut style.
